Clearfield County Charitable Foundation Holds Annual Meeting and Announces New Office Location

The Board of Directors of the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation recently held their annual meeting to review activities during 2024, reorganize the board for 2025 and announce the CCCF Office will be relocating to 201 East Market Street, Clearfield PA in the near future. The board also noted with sorrow the recent passing of Marilyn Kurtz. Mrs. Kurtz along with her husband Robert Kurtz Jr. are founders of the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation and have been significant benefactors to many funds established with the CCCF.
During the meeting, Board Chairman Jeb Soult announced: “The Clearfield County Charitable Foundation had a very successful year in 2024. One of the highlights was the December donation of the building at 201 East Market Street by Kevin and Joan McMillen. Our organization is very excited to accept the building and relocate our offices to this prime location in downtown Clearfield. The move highlights our growth as the community charitable foundation for all of Clearfield County. This new office will enhance our ability to service our clients and the community organizations to whom we provide scholarships and community project grant funding. The entire board sincerely thanks the McMillen’s for their very generous donation.”
In making the donation, Kevin McMillen said “I served on the CCCF Board of Directors for many years and Joan and I have watched the organization grow and prosper. We are pleased to donate the building at 201 East Market Street for the Charitable Foundation use as their main office location and look forward to continued growth and success for the organization”. It was also noted the prior owners of the building were Kevin McMillen’s parents Kenneth E. and Arlene A. McMillen. Kenneth who passed away several years ago, and Arlene, who still resides in Clearfield, were community leaders involved and supportive of many Clearfield area organizations over their lifetime.
In other business, the CCCF Board of Directors retained board officers Chairman Jeb Soult, Vice Chairman John Harpster and Sec/Treasurer Lisa Conrad for another year and appointed Vicki Myers of Mid Penn Bank as Trustee Representative to the CCCF Board of Directors. Other members of the board are Dana Beauseigneur, Maureen Gathagan, Lisa Kovalick, Shayne Lumadue, Jamie Straub, Joe Valenza, Lee Grace Valigorsky and George Weidlein. Directors Emeritus are Robert M. Kurtz Jr. and Kevin McMillen with Mark B. McCracken serving as Executive Director.
Executive Director McCracken gave his annual report to the board with the following highlights: The Clearfield County Charitable Foundation started 2024 with 60 total endowment / scholarship funds. During 2024, 9 new funds were created (3 endowment / 6 scholarship) for a total of 69 funds on file at the start of 2025. To start 2025, the combined market value of all individual fund accounts is $19,421,736 up from $16,960,503.29 at the start of 2024. Donations collected to all funds during 2024 NET AFTER FEES totaled $764,443.41.
During 2024, funding distributed back to communities across Clearfield County totaled $536,316.06, up from $373,030.20 during 2023, distributed across the following categories: $75,300.00 in scholarship awards, $128,900.00 in community grant awards, $86,400.00 in requested distributions by specific community organizations, $1,694.53 in gifts purchased through the Shop with a Cop event and $244,021.53 in annual distribution checks to the beneficiaries of various endowment funds.
Executive Director McCracken told the board “We are having great success working with individuals, families and community organizations to establish scholarships and endowments to fund education opportunities, community projects and meet other needs. By releasing over $500,000 in funding during 2024, our funds and the people who support them are making a difference in the lives of many people and the communities they live in”.
Board Chairman Jeb Soult added “We appreciate all the individuals, families and organizations who have created scholarship or endowment funds with the Charitable Foundation. We are thankful to those who made donations in support of our endowment and scholarship funds during 2024 and we anticipate further success in 2025. The Clearfield County Charitable Foundation has seen tremendous growth in recent years which benefits many students, individuals and organizations throughout Clearfield County”.
