Masonic Lodges and Charitable Foundation Seek Applications from Families of Children Needing Assistance with Medical Expenses.
For the 2nd year, Local Masonic Lodges – Noble Lodge 480, Curwensville, PA, Masonic Lodge 515 in Osceola Mills and Masonic Lodge 574 in Coalport along with the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation will be accepting applications to provide grant funding assistance to local children who have immediate or ongoing medical expenses not covered by health insurance or other funding sources. Funding for the grant awards will be made from the PB Zentmyer Trust Fund that was established by estate of PB Zentmyer in the 1920’s and entrusted to the area Masonic Lodges to manage and distribute to area children with specific medical needs.
In 2025, the PB Zentmyer Committee and the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation were able to provide a grant to a local child dealing with severe autism requiring specific equipment and therapeutic supplies that helped with the child’s daily treatment and ongoing development.
Beginning Monday, April 20th, applications for consideration by the selection committee can be made online at the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation website, www.clearfieldcharitablefoundation.org, and the application period will run through Friday June 5th with review and determination of grant awards made by August 31st.
To file the application, parents or legal guardians should go to www.clearfieldcharitablefoundation.org and click on the “FILE ZENTMYER APPLICATION” button, create a log in and password, and provide all the requested information on the online application. Parents and guardians should be aware the grant award will only be paid to the medical services provider or vendor providing services or equipment necessary for the treatment of the child and cannot be paid directly to the family. Also, this grant cannot be used to reimburse for expenses already incurred. The parent or guardian filing the online application will be required to upload specific letters of reference from certified physicians detailing the medical conditions and treatment needs of the child along with appropriate documentation from the health insurance provider detailing denial of payment for a particular service or equipment. All information will be kept confidential, and applicants may be requested to attend an interview with the selection committee.
Greg Hamm, member of the Masons and of the PB Zentmyer Committee said “We encourage any family that has a child with any special medical needs that is not being covered by health insurance or other sources to consider filing an application. We know there are likely several children and families that need help paying for medical treatment or special equipment that is not covered by traditional health insurance. We are looking for those families who are in this situation and can use the extra help a grant from the PB Zentmyer Fund will provide”.
Any questions regarding filing an application for funding from the PB Zentmyer Fund can be emailed to cccfexecdir@outlook.com.
